Interested in becoming a professional speaker?

Top 5 speaking gigs of my life.

Made 17.

Something about headlining at the Crucible Theatre which made it a proper dream come true. What was spectacular about this venue was the uniqueness of the staging as you’re surrounded on 3 sides.

Costa 2019.

Everyone loves coffee. Well I certainly do, and have massive admiration for this brand and the way they broke through nationally as they did. Cracking staging and a genuine positive vibe from the Heads of organisation as you’d expect from a disruptive business. The perfect staging, perfect conference.

Accounts Payable Association Annual Conference 2019.

I went for it, and this was the first ever outing of my “Light the candle” piece. I got a standing ovation at end which validated my whole approach. An approach which many “professional speakers” told me would never work.

Xerocon 19.

Clearly a million pound+ staged event. As big as it gets in the UK. Opening the show to 3,000 hungover accountants. Talk about a tough assignment, yet it was a perfect showcase to bring in all those skills I’ve learned during the 2,000+ times I’ve spoken in public. You’ll find this presentation on YouTube “Brad Burton Xerocon”

And I’ll end where it all began. I've got to give a nod to 2009 and my big break and first ever “big stage”. Manchester Central (old money Gmex), a speaker cancelled last minute and the organiser Scott Hider asked me if I wanted it. I said yes and with an hour, I had my presentation sorted and went for it. Nailed it.

When I'm in my retirement home overlooking the sea, these will be my fondest memories of my career as a speaker so far.

A world, a sun-culture that I opened and navigated for myself.

This month sees me flying out to speak in both Spain and Croatia.

Interested (as in seriously) in becoming a professional speaker?

When did you last MOT your SELF? Wait, NEVER?!?

Your success or failure is going to be defined by your ability to make decisions. Want more success? Make better decisions. Think about it. So simple! But people are reluctant to make decisions in case they are the wrong ones. Let me tell you something. A mistake is only a mistake after the event . Up until that point, it was the correct decision. No-one, including me, wakes up and thinks "You know what? I'm gonna go fuck up today." But occasionally I do. Do you know what an expert is? An expert is someone who has made every single mistake in a particular niche field. So if YOU want to be considered an expert in YOUR field, you've got to make decisions., and in turn, you've got to make mistakes, which are a down payment on future daft decisions. So when it comes to making decisions, make better decisions faster. THIS is what I teach! The way that I make decisions is this. I make a decision within 24 seconds . If I can't make a decision within 24 seconds , it's then 24 minutes and I revisit it. If, after 24 minutes , I still can't make a decision, it's now 24 hours . After 24 hours, I make a decision. OR that in itself, is a decision. So, here's the thing. YOUR success or failure, in your life, in your business, in your world, is going to be defined by your ability to make decisions. Want more success? Make better decisions. It all starts today. (How would you like ME in your corner, mentoring you on a daily? Well that's exactly what happens in my NowWhat? Club. Check it out here .)

This is a Brad BELTER. You got mifi, wifi, download speed 10meg. You pop into a coffee shop and sit down to enjoy a drink, whilst you work and surf. On the next table you see a lady, looks like a business person, smartly suited and booted, struggling to get online because the coffee shops network is down. So you helpfully suggest she is more than welcome to tether and use your wifi. After all, you are kindred spirits and know how important being online to do work is! The person thanks you and taps in your log in code. And then loads up Squid-game on Netflix. The 2 teenagers on next table see that she now has got online and ask the business person can they also use the log in. And she pauses Squid game and directs them to you. You reluctantly say ok, now you got 3 external people using your wifi that was really only for 1-2 people. Anyways, it is what is is. Finally opening your laptop to do the work, you now see that you have only got 0.5meg download speed as 95% is being used on the other 3 people. It’s making it impossible to watch the video your editor has sent for review and make amends work. Ffs. You drink your cappuccino and now want to leave, not because you need/want to leave but because you are now pissed off with the 3 other people and want to get your bandwidth back to crack on with your work. But now you now feel obligated to stay as one of the teens is now FaceTiming their hospitalised Gran. So now you stay longer than you want. Which knocks onto your entire day and vibe. 1) You haven’t done the work what you set our to do, at coffee shop. 2) You're pissed off re this and how you can’t leave now, without your best intentions now causing you additional problems. Swap wifi with “energy” This is why helping others before yourself is a BIG mistake. You can’t win. That doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t help. But. Today’s lesson is how could you have been helpful in this situation whilst maintaining the workable wifi/energy for yourself? Truth: You can’t save the world. I’ve tried. This lesson will absolutely serve you in all areas of your life.
